Peru: Agrarian Rural Productive Development Program - AGRO RURAL

Supreme Decree No. 012-2020-MIDAGRI created the Rural Agrarian Productive Development Program - AGRO RURAL, as a program of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI), with a scope of intervention in rural areas of the country, especially in territories with lower levels of economic development. The functions of the Rural Agrarian Productive Development Program - AGRO RURAL: - Propose and execute lines of intervention aimed at rural agrarian development. - Promote the improvement of productive and institutional capacities of agricultural producers, facilitating their access to local, regional and national markets. - To formulate and implement interventions for the sustainable use of water resources, contributing to the efficient use of water for agricultural purposes. - Contribute to the sustainable use of natural resources, under a territorial approach and within the framework of MIDAGRI's competencies. - Promote the competitiveness of agricultural production of small and medium-sized producers, through the promotion of associativity, the incorporation of agricultural technologies, among other mechanisms. - To coordinate actions with the three levels of government, aligned with sectoral policies and plans, as well as with regional and local development plans, as appropriate.
