Description
The purpose of this Law was to strengthen, through affirmative actions, the empowerment and equal opportunities of rural and indigenous women, promoting their integral development and autonomy in the economic, social and cultural spheres, through training programs and access to productive financing. Rural women were recognized as those who reside in rural areas and participate in activities linked, directly or indirectly, to the productivity and sustainability of the rural environment, regardless of whether these tasks are remunerated or recognized by the State's official information systems. These women could self-identify as indigenous, native, Afro-descendant or mestizo.
The Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, in coordination with the Ministry of Production, is responsible for implementing programs aimed specifically at rural and indigenous women, focusing on business plans, productive projects, technical assistance and the application of agricultural technologies. Likewise, the Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and AFP, in coordination with the competent sectors, designed and promoted training programs aimed at improving access to financing and credit for this population group.
