Regional Climate Change Strategy of the Junín Region

The Regional Climate Change Strategy of the Junín Region establishes the regional planning framework for climate change adaptation, greenhouse gas emissions management, and strengthened climate governance. The strategy seeks to increase awareness and adaptive capacity among the Regional Government, local governments, the population, public institutions, and private organizations in response to the adverse impacts and opportunities associated with climate change, using an ecosystem-based adaptation approach. It also promotes the conservation and expansion of ecosystem carbon stocks, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and the strengthening of institutional capacities and local governance for climate change management. Its actions cover areas including ecosystems and biodiversity, water resources and watersheds, agriculture, transport, energy, industrial processes, waste, and infrastructure.
