Description

Jamaica's Climate Change Policy aims to support the objectives of the Jamaica National Development Plan Vision 2030, specifically Goal 4: Jamaica has a healthy natural environment. Specific objectives of the policy include strengthening Jamaica's adaptive capacity and resilience to reduce its vulnerability to climate change, promoting low-carbon development, and increasing access to and mobilization of climate finance. Additionally, it seeks to promote public education and awareness, as well as research and technology transfer towards ambitious climate action. The implementation of this policy involves a series of strategies that encompass improving the governance framework for climate action, ensuring transparency and accountability. Reducing Jamaica's vulnerability is prioritized by strengthening its capacity to respond to the negative impacts of climate change. The policy is also designed to facilitate access to climate finance for adaptation and mitigation projects, promote public education and awareness, encourage research and data analysis on climate change,
