Description

This policy framework establishes technical guidelines for comprehensive care of children from birth to 10 years old in El Salvador, based on the IMCI strategy (Integrated Management of Childhood Illness). It defines processes for evaluation, classification and treatment through a methodology that includes health promotion, disease prevention, growth and development surveillance, and comprehensive management of frequent childhood diseases with a rights-based approach. Its objective is to reduce child morbimortality by guaranteeing comprehensive care with efficacy, efficiency, quality and warmth in the Integral and Integrated Health Networks (RIIS). It is directed to personnel of first-level care establishments to systematize care in communities, families and individuals.
