Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Action (NAMA) for Sustainable and Low Emission Livestock under Grazing Conditions in Mexico (NAMA GS+MEXICO)

Description

The NAMA GS+MEXICO is a proposal developed by IICA in coordination with 44 Mexican institutions to transform traditional extensive livestock farming towards sustainable and low-emission systems. The initiative seeks to reduce GHG emissions by 28% through the implementation of good practices and technologies in 3,270 Livestock Production Units, impacting 15,000 livestock producers in ten states of the country. The total intervention area covers 685 thousand hectares, divided into 436 thousand hectares of livestock production units and 248 thousand hectares of connectivity area, promoting the participation of milk and meat chain actors. The proposal includes an innovation system that develops capacities, innovates, certifies and positions green products in the market, with a goal of reducing 2,493,692 tCO2e after six years of implementation.
