Peru: Supplement to Law No. 31477- Law promoting actions for food recovery (Supreme Decree No. 006-2025-MIDAGRI)

The Regulation of Law No. 31477, Law that promotes actions for food recovery, aims to promote the recovery of fresh and safe food in food markets nationwide, with the purpose of using it to supply vulnerable populations. The regulation establishes mandatory guidelines for natural and legal persons that carry out food recovery activities, as well as for State entities -ministries, regional governments and provincial and district municipalities- that, within the scope of their competences, must contribute to the creation of a favourable environment for such recovery. The regulation also defines the entities involved in the implementation of these actions, including the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI), responsible for promoting the participation of organised agricultural producers in farmers' markets; the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (MIDIS); the Ministry of Production; the Ministry of Health; and regional and local governments, which must coordinate efforts in accordance with their institutional attributions.
