Law nº 14,628 that reestablishes the Food Acquisition Program (PAA) in Brazil

Law No. 14,628, of July 20, 2023, reestablishes the Food Acquisition Program (PAA), with the objective of promoting access to food, food security and economic and social inclusion. The PAA seeks to promote family farming and other related sectors, and strengthen local marketing networks. Asimismo, intends to promote the consumption of food produced by family farming. The program will allow the direct purchase of food from beneficiary providers without bidding, respecting certain quality and price criteria.
