Acuerdo entre la República Bolivariana de Venezuela y la República de Colombia relativo a la Promoción y Protección Recíproca de Inversiones

The Agreement between the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Republic of Colombia on the Reciprocal Promotion and Protection of Investments establishes a bilateral legal framework to facilitate, promote and protect cross-border direct investment between both countries. It includes national treatment and investment protection standards, provisions on expropriation and compensation for losses, transfers, denial of benefits, and mechanisms for State-to-State and investor-State dispute settlement. The Agreement seeks to encourage bilateral investment, productive complementarity, sustainable development, productive diversification, value-chain development and skilled employment while respecting labor and environmental standards. It was signed on February 3, 2023, approved in Colombia through Law 2370 of 2024, declared constitutional by Constitutional Court Judgment C-338 of 2025, and entered into force on March 30, 2026.
