Peru: National Livestock Development Plan 2017-2027 Ministerial Resolution Nº 0297-2017-MINAGRI

The general objective of this Plan is to improve the competitiveness of the livestock sector, promoting sustainable productive and commercial development of both the products and by-products of this activity. Its specific objectives are as follows: -To sustainably manage natural resources, guaranteeing the continuity of livestock production systems and reducing their vulnerability to adverse climatic events. -To increase the productivity of the livestock sector through the efficient use of technologies and the incorporation of innovation in production processes. -Add value to livestock products, promoting their transformation and diversification to improve their competitiveness in the market. - Expand coverage and improve services, facilitating adequate access to markets for livestock products. - Strengthen the institutional and regulatory framework, ensuring effective and coordinated governance of the sector. The Plan is structured around five strategic axes: natural resource management; livestock production; value added; services and market access; and institutional framework. Based on these axes, general and specific objectives, goals and strategies have been defined for each production chain, taking into account global trends and the current diagnosis of the national livestock sector.
