Peru: National Environmental Education Policy – Supreme Decree No. 017-2012-ED

National policy approved through Supreme Decree No. 017-2012-ED to develop environmental education, culture and citizenship in Peru and contribute to building a sustainable, competitive, inclusive and culturally rooted society. The policy establishes objectives and guidelines for mainstreaming environmental education throughout basic and higher education, strengthening community-based environmental education and intercultural approaches, promoting environmental educational materials and communication, expanding environmental participation and citizenship, and fostering innovation, recognition and monitoring of environmental education performance. Its implementation is carried out in a coordinated, multisectoral and decentralized manner by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Environment and other competent institutions through environmental education strategies, plans, programs and projects.
