Description
Most of the food products that are to be exempted from taxes were taxed at a rate of 5%. These items include cheese, lettuce, salad beets, turnips, cucumbers, cucumbers, peas and beans, asparagus, celery, sweet peppers, hot peppers, eggplant, spinach, squash, corn, beets, artichoke, yams, cauliflower, broccoli, cassava, sweet potato and all canned vegetables, yeast and baking powder. In addition, beef, pork and turkey preparations are reduced from 20 percent to duty-free; protein powders are reduced from 40 percent, vegetable meals from 35 percent, raw ground nuts from 10 percent and mashed potatoes are reduced from 35 percent to duty-free. Other foods, such as chicken eggs, are reduced from 30% to 5%, chicken pieces from 30% to 10% and duck from 10% to 5%.
