Brazil: Amazon Project for Sustainable Management (PAGES)

Description

The United Nations International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Government of the State of Maranhão in Brazil signed a financing agreement for the implementation of the Amazon Sustainable Management Project (PAGES). Brazil's Maranhão State has the highest rates of poverty and food insecurity, the project will address the worrying environmental degradation of the Amazon rainforest. The State Secretariat for Family Agriculture (SAF) will be the project executing agency, working in strategic partnership with the Maranhão Land and Colonisation Institute (ITERMA) and the State Agency for Agricultural Research and Rural Extension (AGERP).
