Description
In 2022, the Government of Mexico expanded the Fertilizers for Wellbeing Program to nine federal entities: Chiapas, Oaxaca, Guerrero, Morelos, Puebla, Tlaxcala, Durango, Nayarit and Zacatecas. The measure aimed to support small-scale producers through the free delivery of fertilizers for priority crops such as maize, beans, rice and vegetables, taking into account regions with high levels of marginalization, productive potential and regional importance. The Ministry of Agriculture reported that delivery would take place through Agricultura-Segalmex Distribution Centers, with more than 300,000 validated producers in Guerrero and at least 180,000 small-scale maize farmers expected to benefit in Oaxaca.
