EFSA Strategy 2027: Science, Food Safety and Sustainability

This document comes at a historic moment for EFSA (European Food Safety Authority): an amendment to the General Food Law came into force in 2021 that increased its responsibilities to the EU citizenry; new policy developments have been announced at EU level, such as actions related to the Green Pact and in particular the Farm to Fork Strategy, the Chemicals for Sustainability Strategy and the Biodiversity Strategy, which will be at the heart of its activities in the coming years; and the global SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has forced it (and will continue to force it) to adapt to new ways of working. It is in this context that EFSA has developed its Strategy 2027. It presents how EFSA intends to respond to this changing environment, describing the added value it proposes for its customers, partners, stakeholders and society at large.
