Motivation
Welcome to the dialogue room dedicated to the Promotion and Development of Bioinputs in the Pan American region, a space where different actors from the Bioinputs subsector converge to exchange knowledge and establish collaborations in order to advance towards the strengthening of public policies and more ecological and profitable technologies for the benefit of the region's agri-food systems. Currently there are important global challenges of high relevance that have direct implications on the sustainability of food systems. Among them, the war between Russia and Ukraine that has generated a series of geopolitical tensions and has affected the availability and access to conventional agricultural inputs in the region. On the other hand, climate change represents an even broader and more complex challenge. Rising temperatures, changes in rainfall patterns, and extreme weather events directly affect agricultural production and threaten food security globally. In this context, the bioeconomy and bio-inputs as one of its paths are presented as a very valuable and adaptable tool to face the impacts of climate change on agriculture in the region.
