Description

This is a report on the physical basis and indicators of climate change in Latin America and the Caribbean. It focuses on the physical science of climate change and its interactions with biodiversity and the economy in the region, as well as the region's contribution to greenhouse gas emissions. It discusses the effects of climate change in the region and shows an analysis of the climate commitments of Latin America and the Caribbean. The document concludes that economic activities are the main driver of climate change and negatively affect biodiversity and ecosystem services. In addition, there has been a decline in per capita GDP in some countries in the region over the last ten years, a situation that was exacerbated by the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.
