Description

The use of artificial intelligence is already a reality and has been tested in the world and in the region. However, it is important to decipher and understand its potential, scope, challenges and possibilities we face. This regional report on the strategic and responsible use of artificial intelligence in the public sector in Latin America, to which experts in the field have contributed, presents fundamental concepts on this topic. In particular, it addresses the fact that agriculture is among the top three high-risk areas for technological substitution. In addition, it places us in the current Latin American panorama regarding the use and appropriation of this technology and presents experiences in the adoption of strategies to accelerate the implementation of public policy on artificial intelligence. The document presents the existing challenges for a responsible use in the public sector, for the establishment of data infrastructures and their governance and, of course, for the development of a workforce in the public sector with the appropriate profiles and skills for the new environment. It also includes case studies to address structural challenges that require the attention of the public sector.
