Description

The report of the webinar organized by GFAR (Global Forum on Agricultural Research and Innovation) highlights the importance of addressing the global problem that affects food production, food security and environmental sustainability. The report addresses challenges and solutions to improve soil fertility, including promoting sustainable agricultural practices, investing in research and development, strengthening networks and partnerships, improving data collection and analysis, and collaboration between the public and private sectors. The document highlights the need for a holistic approach to improve soil fertility, involving farmers, researchers, among other stakeholders in the search for sustainable and effective solutions. Three priority issues stand out: (i) address the challenges posed by the disruption of fertilizer supply chains, especially for smallholders; (ii) support the development of regional and local alternatives (organic fertilizers and biofertilizers), and (iii) support agro-ecological practices to reduce dependence on external inputs
