Description

IICA presented the study "Rural connectivity in Latin America and the Caribbean: status, challenges and actions for digitization and sustainable development" in which the countries of the region were segmented into groups of high, medium and low rural connectivity. The study is a starting point in the establishment of actions aimed at providing quality services to achieve greater digital equity among people, as well as between the countryside and the city, also the study gathers information that allows dimensioning the current obstacles to the installation of digital technologies. It also includes a series of recommendations on public policies to develop digital skills in the rural population, seeking to maximize the opportunities provided by connectivity in rural areas.
