Description
The war in Ukraine has sent energy prices soaring and raised the costs of imported fertilizers and pesticides from Russia, Belarus and China, on which producers in the region rely heavily. Meanwhile, extreme weather conditions due to climate change have become a major financial risk. This is not the first time that South American countries have experienced prolonged droughts that have reduced the productivity of agricultural products such as soybeans, while forest fires threaten livestock farmers.
