Description

Following the war between Russia and Ukraine, various sources sought to explain the extent to which the shortage of fertilizers will affect global agricultural production. The Global Fertilizer Impact Monitor is an interactive tool designed to quantify the potential outcomes of changes in fertilizer supply on global production of corn, wheat, soybeans, and rice across five different scenarios. This tool incorporates multiple scenarios of nitrogen fertilizer application and estimates their expected effects on global production of the mentioned crops. The scenarios are modeled by Gro Intelligence using forecasts of application rates and scientific inputs from two leading fertilizer organizations: the International Fertilizer Association and the CRU Group. The purpose of this tool is to provide a basis for measuring the range of outcomes and identifying potential risks. These scenarios are based solely on forecasts of nitrogen fertilizers and do not take into account other variables, such as weather conditions, which could further affect production and yield. However, Gro's Seasonal Yield Forecast Models do take these variables into account.
