The article presents information about Musaceae (Musa spp.), the Panama disease is characterised in general terms and its importance for crops due to its wide host range with emphasis on Race 4 which affects Cavendish production, control measures include to a greater extent exclusion work due to the polycyclic nature of the pathogen, there are no other measures with high impact on the prevention and control of the disease so it is necessary to improve the resistance of plants to the disease.
