Description

Opinion article in which the news about the incursion of the tropical fungus Fusarium oxysporum Race 4 in the American continent is addressed, generating questions about the knowledge of the fungus, its importance, affectation, possible actions for its control. In addition to the symptoms presented, they produce trichothecene mycotoxins and fumonisins with impacts on animal production and human health. The article reviews the beginnings, diversity of the fungus and its impact in the world, symptoms, problem in the banana system, general considerations and finally the response phases and invasion curve are presented.
