First Report FOC R4T Associated with Panama Disease of Banana Asia (2014)

The study isolated FOC on PDA (medium) from infected plants and found pale salmon colonies, floccose mycelia with morphological similarity to F.oxysporum f.sp. cubense by producing infrequent macroconidia of 3-5 cells and other similar characteristics. Pathogenicity tests were performed on Cavendish plants and the inoculated plants were taken to the field where FOC R4T was confirmed to be of importance as it affects 80% of the production area in the Jordan Valley.
