Description

Seven vegetative compatibility groups (VCGs) of three highly virulent pathogenic races (cv. Grande Naine), isolated during the field study, were evaluated. Comparative alignment of R1 and R4 genomes was performed with some false positive results in finding highly available molecular markers, putative race-specific genes identified genes encoding secreted xylem products (SIX) that may be necessary for disease development in banana, Foc-specific markers R1, R4, TR4 and STR4 showed no cross-amplification with other Foc races, VCGs or banana pathogens, and can help to detect the pathogen in planta, the markers found show high utility in effective disease management.
