Review covering the importance of Fusarium oxysporum as a global threat to banana and plantain production because of its difficult control, specifically the Malaysian case of the tropical race (Foc R4T) that wiped out the Cavendish plantations in 1990. Current knowledge on the epidemiology and control measures for Foc given by the country's Department of Agriculture (DOA) to reduce the spread, also covers research on Foc control in Malaysia and knowledge gaps, as well as challenges for researchers and policy makers.
