Description

This is an updated review of the current state of knowledge on the main agro-environmental factors that can affect disease progression and the spread of this dangerous pathogen, focusing on Venezuelan musaceae production systems. Environmental variables, together with soil management and sustainable cultural practices, are important factors affecting the incidence and severity of Foc, emphasising the importance of anthropogenic activities. The review includes a risk and climatic condition map, although it does not propose effective management and control solutions for Foc R4T; it also provides an overview of the influence of environmental and agricultural variables, giving an idea of the management factors that can contribute to reduce the detrimental effects on banana production and the effects of climate change.
