Technical report
15/12/2020
Description
This report, prepared in the framework of the Agrimonitor initiative of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), provides a detailed and quantitative analysis of public policies applied to the agricultural sector in Peru. The government employs several policy instruments in support of the agricultural sector, which generate positive transfers to the sector. In the 2014-2018 period, the Estimated Producer Support (EAP) represented on average 8% of farmers' gross income. Most of the support is granted in the form of Market Price Support (MPS). For these calculations, 21 agricultural products were included, with chicken meat having the largest share, followed by potato and rice.
