Description
The amendments to the institutional plan were discussed at the 42nd Regular Meeting of the IICA Executive Committee. The participants agreed that, in order to ensure the continuity of excellent technical cooperation, it is essential to correctly interpret a scenario that increases the continent's role as the guarantor of the planet's food, nutritional and environmental security. The purpose of the adjustments to IICA's plan is to maintain and further refine the alignment of institutional action with the demands and needs of the times, marked by the confluence of health, social, environmental and economic factors, aggravated by the war in Eastern Europe, which have created a worrisome situation in terms of poverty and food insecurity that is straining the foundations of the region's production systems. Seven key areas form the backbone of IICA's technical cooperation proposal to respond to the demands of the countries and generate effective solutions at the national, regional and hemispheric levels in the period 2022-2026: Innovation and the Bioeconomy; Climate Action and Agricultural Sustainability; Territorial Development and Family Agriculture; Gender Equity and Youth; Agrifood Digitalization; Agricultural Health, Food Safety and Quality; and International Trade and Regional Integration.
