Chamber of Deputies President receives Senamhi alert on extraordinary Coastal El Niño

The President of Peru's Chamber of Deputies received Senamhi, which presented the evolution of the Coastal El Niño and warned that it would continue until autumn 2027, with extraordinary magnitude between October 2026 and January 2027 and a gradual decline afterwards. Senamhi outlined its needs to strengthen meteorological monitoring, which relies on a national network of 1,090 stations and monitoring points, including promoting a Law for the Strengthening and Modernization of Senamhi, protecting its observation stations and addressing infrastructure and equipment needs.
