Description

The Caribbean Drought Bulletin reports normal to below-normal conditions across the eastern Caribbean from June to August 2026, with several islands experiencing moderate to exceptional dryness. Short-term drought is expected by late December 2026 across much of the Lesser Antilles, eastern Dominican Republic, the ABC Islands, northern Belize and The Bahamas, and long-term drought by late November in the southern eastern Caribbean, the northern Leeward Islands, the ABC Islands, northern Belize and The Bahamas. The bulletin notes that an intensifying El Niño, which may reach a record peak in December, and above-normal temperatures would worsen drought, and recommends monitoring water resources across the Caribbean basin.
