Description

The report presents the findings of the 2026 United Nations Global Risk Survey, drawing on responses from more than 1,300 participants across government, business, civil society and the United Nations system in all world regions. It assesses 28 political, technological, economic, environmental and societal risks according to their likelihood, severity, time horizon, interconnectedness and the preparedness of multilateral institutions. Compared with 2024, geopolitical tensions and large-scale war have become more important and more immediate, while climate change inaction remains the most important global risk. The report also identifies high vulnerability to natural hazards and natural resource shortages, finds that 86 per cent of respondents consider funding for risk reduction inadequate and concludes that joint action between governments remains the most effective means of prevention.
