Description

Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock received from Embrapa a set of 163 measures to support climate risk management in agriculture. The recommendations consider the possible impacts of El Niño on the 2026/2027 crop season and propose permanent actions for risk prevention, adaptation and reduction. Of the total, 14 measures apply across the agricultural sector, 139 address specific production segments and 10 are enabling actions or support measures for public policy programs. The measures include weather monitoring, use of Agricultural Climate Risk Zoning, production diversification, contingency planning, rural insurance and training. Institutional actions include financing for climate adaptation, technical assistance, research and technology validation, agrometeorological monitoring and integrated water resources management.
