Description

The Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA) presented the third stage of its El Agro Actúa campaign, aimed at strengthening prevention and timely action against the challenges of climate variability and the El Niño phenomenon in the Colombian countryside. The release recommends that producers watch for warning signs in crops (wilting plants, unexpected pests or diseases, changes in water availability) and in animals (changes in behavior, feeding, or health status). Suggested prevention measures include planning productive activities according to local conditions, using water efficiently and protecting water sources, maintaining vigilance over pests and diseases, using seeds from authorized sources, consulting official information, and promptly reporting any sanitary or phytosanitary risk to ICA.
