Description

Caribbean Regional Climate Centre outlook on expected conditions from June to August 2026. It warns that an El Niño event is strengthening and could become strong or very strong and last until early 2027. For the Atlantic Hurricane Season, it projects 8-16 named storms, including approximately 3-7 hurricanes and 1-3 major hurricanes; 3-10 named storms could form from June to August. The outlook also anticipates elevated temperatures and humidity, frequent and persistent hot spells, 30 or more hot-spell days in The Bahamas, Cuba, Jamaica, and St. Croix, increased drought probability in parts of the Caribbean and the Guianas, and high to extremely high potential for flooding and flash floods across most of the region.
