Observatory
2024
Description
Regional observatory designed to collect, systematise, analyse and communicate information on adaptation progress, gaps and barriers in Latin America and the Caribbean. The observatory supports decision-making through the analysis of scientific and policy knowledge, the mapping of indicators and the monitoring of national and subnational adaptation actions. Its structure is based on the Global Goal on Adaptation and covers water, food systems, health, ecosystems and biodiversity, infrastructure and human settlements, poverty and livelihoods, and cultural heritage. It also examines the adaptation policy cycle, including impact, vulnerability and risk assessment; planning; implementation; and monitoring, evaluation and learning. The observatory draws on national adaptation plans, nationally determined contributions, national progress reports, scientific literature, global datasets, climate finance flows, project documents and records of subnational adaptation actions.
