Analysis of experiences in entrepreneurship and innovation systems in the agricultural sector

Study by the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), prepared by Lino A. Clemente Rincón under the consultancy Strategy for strengthening agricultural digitalization in Venezuela. The document analyzes experiences, challenges and opportunities in entrepreneurship and innovation systems in the agricultural sector, with emphasis on agricultural digital transformation, disruptive technologies, family farming, producer associations, AgTech firms, support services, financial inclusion, market access and capacity building. The study describes the role of FEDEAGRO and its Directorate of Technology and Innovation as a platform to connect the demand from producers and producer associations with the supply of technological solutions, entrepreneurs and technology-based firms. It also presents survey results from producers and interviews with providers of digital solutions, identifying barriers such as connectivity, finance, electricity service, knowledge of the technology supply, technical support, training, adoption costs and limitations to scale digital solutions.
