Description

The Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System (GDACS) is a global disaster alert, information and coordination platform developed as a cooperation framework between the United Nations, the European Commission and disaster managers worldwide. The resource provides access to information on sudden-onset events and hazards such as earthquakes, tropical cyclones, floods, droughts, volcanoes and forest fires, as well as coordination tools, maps and satellite imagery. For OPSAa, it is a relevant contextual monitoring and early warning resource, since disasters and extreme events can affect agricultural production, rural infrastructure, supply chains, food security and the resilience of agri-food systems.
