The Global Report on Food Crises 2026, produced by FAO, WFP and GNAFC, provides a global, regional and country-level assessment of acute food insecurity, acute malnutrition and displacement in countries and territories with food crises. The report estimates that in 2025 around 266 million people in 47 countries and territories faced high levels of acute food insecurity, representing 22.9% of the analysed population. By primary driver, the report highlights 147.4 million people affected in contexts where conflict and insecurity were the dominant driver, 87.5 million where weather extremes were the main driver, and 29.8 million where economic shocks were the main driver. For Latin America and the Caribbean, the report highlights deterioration in Haiti, where the population in IPC Phase 3 or above increased from 3.7 million in 2019 to 5.7 million in 2025, and notes that in Guatemala and Honduras the population in IPC Phase 3 or above fell to 5.2 million in 2025 after reaching 7.2 million in 2022.
