Description

olombia's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, through Finagro, made 67.272 billion COP available to subsidize agricultural insurance through the Agricultural Insurance Incentive (ISA), covering up to 85% of the premium for small producers and up to 35% for medium-sized ones, as a preventive measure against El Niño. The mechanism has benefited 19,467 producers and 41,073 productive projects across crops including coffee, rice, plantain, potato, cassava, cacao, and maize, and is complemented by climate-index-based insurance pilots for coffee growers against rainfall deficit or excess. Additional instruments include the Capitalization Incentive for Agricultural Risk Management (ICGR), the Integral Incentive (IIGRA), and a Special Credit Line for Productive Development, all aimed at strengthening the financial and water resilience of Ethnic, Community, and Family Peasant Agriculture (ACFEC).
