Description
Colombia's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development established a sectoral Unified Command Post (PMU) to coordinate preventive actions against the El Niño phenomenon and reduce risks to food production and rural livelihoods. The strategy encompasses agroclimatic and water monitoring, technical assistance to producers, and adjustments to production calendars in areas most exposed to water stress. Participating institutions include ICA, Agrosavia, Finagro, the Rural Development Agency, and Banco Agrario, among others, with the goal of protecting the country's agri-food systems from the effects of the climate phenomenon.
