Description
The ENFEN Multisectoral Commission maintains the "El Niño Costero Alert" status, with the Coastal El Niño event (which began in March 2026) expected to continue through the summer of 2027 at a strong (48%) or moderate (46%) magnitude, while in the Niño 3.4 region the phenomenon would develop between June 2026 and March 2027. The bulletin reports air temperatures above climatological values along the Peruvian coast, normal river flows in the Pacific watershed, and shifts in the distribution of the north-central anchovy stock linked to warm conditions. Decision-makers are advised to adopt disaster risk reduction measures ahead of the upcoming rainy season (September 2026-April 2027).
