China strengthens Guyana’s El Niño preparedness through financial support for climate resilience

The Government of China provided a donation of approximately GYD 20.7 million to support Guyana’s preparedness efforts for the potential impacts of the El Niño phenomenon. The funding will be used to strengthen national capacities for climate risk preparedness and response in coordination with the authorities responsible for emergency management and climate resilience. The initiative forms part of the bilateral cooperation between the two countries and seeks to help reduce the potential impacts of extreme climate conditions on communities, resource availability, and climate-sensitive economic activities, including agriculture.
