Peru: MIDAGRI Advances Water Infrastructure Projects in La Libertad and Lambayeque to Secure Water Supply and Expand Agricultural Frontier

The Ascope 1 and Ascope 2 dams (La Libertad), complementary to the Chavimochic Special Project, will bring 20,000 new hectares under cultivation and improve irrigation for another 25,000, with an investment exceeding S/ 1,000 million and a projected creation of up to 80,000 direct and indirect jobs. In Lambayeque, the La Calzada project involves constructing a dam and irrigation infrastructure in the La Leche river valley, benefiting over 15,000 hectares and serving as a flood risk reduction mechanism against the El Niño phenomenon.
