Description
National acute food insecurity analysis conducted under the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC/CIF) protocol, covering 23 provinces of Ecuador. Estimates approximately 2.5 million people (14% of the analyzed population) in IPC Phase 3 or above for the current period (December 2025–March 2026), with projections rising to 2.6 million (15%) for April–July 2026. Key contributing factors include inflation and reduced purchasing power, adverse climate events (with a 50% probability of El Niño occurrence), a phytosanitary emergency due to Fusarium Race 4 in banana crops, citizen insecurity and violence, and human mobility dynamics. The report includes a disaggregated analysis of 203,072 Venezuelan migrants across eight priority zones, provincial classification tables for three periods, and action recommendations focused on social protection, livelihoods, and continuous monitoring.
