Description
From May 12 to 14, 2026, Palmira (Colombia) hosted the second regional dialogue for agriculture and food security negotiators in Latin America, organized by FAO, PLACA, and the Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT. The meeting aimed to strengthen the region's technical and negotiating capacities ahead of SB64 in Bonn (June 2026) and COP31 in Antalya (November 2026). Sessions covered the UNFCCC legal architecture, the Global Goal on Adaptation, the loss and damage framework, and the integration of agriculture into NDCs and National Adaptation Plans. The dialogue also sought to build joint regional positions, in a context where over 33 million people suffer from hunger and 167 million face food insecurity in the region.
