Description
The General Secretariat of the Andean Community (CAN) and the International Potato Center (CIP) signed a License Agreement to integrate the scientific tool ILCYM (Insect Life Cycle Modeling) into the Andean Community Regional Center for Phytosanitary Intelligence (CRIFCAN), with the aim of strengthening pest prevention, surveillance, and management in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. The tool allows for modeling insect behavior and development according to climatic conditions, facilitating the early detection of phytosanitary risks and the implementation of preventative measures. The agreement includes the free use of the license, information sharing, and the generation of joint knowledge under the principles of open access and scientific cooperation.
