Italy, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), introduced the so-called Rome Coalition, composed of nearly 40 countries, to ensure the continuity of fertilizer supplies and protect food security amid tensions in the Strait of Hormuz. The initiative seeks to promote international cooperation, maintain trade flows, and strengthen the resilience of agrifood systems against geopolitical risks affecting the availability and prices of fertilizers, energy, and food.
