Description

This paper presents a narrative literature review on rural youth in Brazil and the motivations behind their migration from the countryside to urban areas. Drawing on sociological approaches and census data, it describes the heterogeneous rural context, the lack of infrastructure, education and political participation, as well as generational and gender conflicts and economic constraints in family farming, showing how these factors stimulate youth out-migration and which conditions could support their permanence in rural territories.
